Tremors of magnitude 5.2 occurred on Monday morning in north-west Pakistan, reported Aaj-TV channel with reference to the Meteorological Department.
According to media reports, the earthquake was felt in several parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, near the border with Afghanistan. No casualties and destruction have been reported yet.
North of Pakistan located in a seismic zone, earthquakes are not uncommon. Thus, in March 2011 there twice recorded earthquakes of moderate strength.
In October 2005, the north of the country was destroyed by a powerful earthquake. Then, according to official figures, killed more than 80,000 people. Since then, in the areas of post-earthquake tremors often cause panic.
