More than 400 homes were destroyed in the northern Afghan province of Balkh in landslides and breaks the soil, caused by a series of earthquakes that began in the county Marmal last Wednesday, said Sunday the Afghan government news agency Bakhtar.
According to the agency, referring to the head of the county administration Shira Mohammad Abu Tariq Madzhlesi, some villages have divided the county Marmal cracks in the ground to a depth up to a hundred meters. In the affected area for several days continued landslides, which sometimes reaches a speed of 10 inches per minute.
More than 400 families homeless, temporarily relocated to nearby communities, local authorities provided them with food, blankets and essential goods.
Madzhlesi urged local and foreign charitable organizations to assist victims by providing them with at least some shelter.
