NATO will assist Ukraine in recycling guns and ammunition

Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the draft law on ratification of the contract with NATO logistics services and security, said in a statement on the website of "UkrSpetsExport." After the ratification of the document sent to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. Agreement with NATO provided utilization small tools, light weapons, mines and ammunition in financing the alliance.

Agreement, which was signed on 21 September 2011 in Brussels, namely the settlement provides for 366 thousand units of small arms and light weapons, 3,000,000 units of anti-personnel mines and 76 tons of ammunition. In late November, 2011 it was reported that the United States will help Ukraine in the amount of 126.3 million dollars. Part of these funds will be used in the disposal of weapons.

The current contract with the NATO is the second in a row. In the summer of 2005 was signed by the first agreement, calculated for 10 years. Ukraine within the framework of this document should be disposed of 130 tons of ammunition and guns. The total price of defeat weapons valued at 97.7 million dollars (75 million euros).

It is worth noting that the United States often provide financial assistance to Ukraine. Part of the funds spent on recycling different weapons. Namely, the U.S. State Department and the Ukraine in December 2009 signed agreement, providing for the settlement of the operational-tactical systems "Scud". In the period from 1990 to 2011 gg., according to the group Geostrategy, the aggregate amount of funding acquired from the United States Ukraine amounted to about 3 billion dollars.
