Local authorities declared a tsunami alert.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the epicenter of the quake was located in the Sulu Sea near the island of Negros, seismic activity was recorded at a depth of 19 kilometers, according to ITAR-TASS.
Sakhalin Tsunami Warning Center said that, according to preliminary data, in the Philippines can be generated locally-wave tsunami. According to experts, its height will be no more than five feet. The Centre continues to monitor the situation in the Philippines after the earthquake.
