Powerful cyclone on Wednesday close to the Kamchatka Peninsula, the Kuril Islands and the northern coast of the Magadan region — in these regions is expected to wind storms, heavy snowfall, sudden changes in temperature and pressure, ice, told RIA Novosti the head of the Situation Centre Roshydromet Yuri Varakin.
"Center of the cyclone will move parallel to the Kuril Islands, a few hundred kilometers east of the east in the direction of the Aleutian Islands. On January 16, it will begin to influence the weather in the north and the south of Kamchatka, the Kuril Islands," — said the source.
According to him, the wind speed in the area of the cyclone can be up to 30 meters per second, on the coast it can reach hurricane force. Expected heavy rainfall, snowfall, which can add road construction work and energy: be strong ice on the roads, and wet snow on the wires.
"The most significant impact he will have on January 17, his influence spread to the coast of the Sea of Okhotsk in the Magadan region, the whole Kamchatka and Chukotka peninsula south" — said Varakin.
He added that the cyclone will not affect the Primorye and Sakhalin — in these areas remain frosty weather.
