At least ten people were killed in heavy rains in the southern states of Brazil, said local Civil Defence (SC). A powerful storm front caused floods, landslides, destroyed roads and flooded the city in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and Parana. According to the service GO, 21 000 421 people were evacuated from their homes due to rising water levels in rivers and flooding homes. Two remain missing. In total, an estimated authorities affected by the disaster to the 60,000 residents in the south of the country.
In the state of Paraná, according to local authorities, about eight thousand people were cut off from the outside world after the rain washed away the road surface and destroyed the bridges over the river. Trail leading from the state capital of Curitiba to the Atlantic coast, is blocked. The number of victims is specified.
