To the north of Tokyo earthquake with magnitude 4.2, no tsunami threat

An earthquake measuring 4.2 occurred today at 12:33 local time / 7:33 MSK / north-east of the main Japanese island of Honshu. Reported by the National Meteorological Administration.

The earthquake lies at a depth of about 30 kilometers below the bottom of the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Ibaraki Prefecture. About damage were reported, no tsunami risk.

At the same time quite powerful tremors have been recorded in the prefectures of Fukushima, Tochigi and Chiba, which is located in Tokyo Narita International Airport. Since the beginning of the current day in the northeast Honshu recorded two earthquakes over magnitude 4, which also resulted in no damage.

Forecast to seismologists, the increased seismic activity on the Pacific coast of Japan, which is celebrated here after the devastating March 11 disaster, almost for a month, will continue for some time.
