Tropical storm Michael in the Atlantic increased to hurricane

The efforts of Tropical Storm "Michael" is the seventh hurricane season in the Atlantic, but is not harmful to the land, according to the National Center on Thursday warning of storms USA (National Hurricane Center, NHC).

As at 23.00 local time (07.00 MSK), "Michael" was at a distance of 1.7 thousand kilometers to the southwest of the Azores. Gust speed accompanying the hurricane, is 120 kilometers per hour. "Michael" is moving in a northeasterly direction at a speed of 11 kilometers per hour.

In Thursday night tropical storm "Leslie" has gained strength and became the sixth of the Atlantic hurricane season. According to the forecast of Bermuda Weather Service, the storm could reach the island on September 9. And within 36 hours because of "Leslie" in the islands will be high (up to 3 meters) waves and wind speed of 50 kilometers per hour. Local authorities have issued a warning for small boats.

It is possible that "Leslie" will soon reach the second category of risk on Saffir-Simpson scale.

Tropical storms are named when the speed of an accompanying wind reaches 62 miles per hour. Storm becomes a hurricane when wind speed exceeds 119 kilometers per hour. To the hurricane was awarded the first category on the Saffir-Simpson scale that evaluates the potential damage from the disaster, its wind speed is 120 kilometers per hour.
