Vskie NATO-Russia air defense aircraft will have to protect themselves from mobile anti-aircraft missile complexes

Experts from the U.S. military completed testing Spanish-Russian system «MANTA». It was taken as a result of successful work of Rosoboronexport and «Indra» and after the trials, which had a NATO-vskie spices, system quite prepared for use on airplanes.

During the exercises «EMBOW XIII», which took place at the test missile center in the French Biscarosse from September 19 to October 14, 2011, «MANTA» was installed on the aircraft "S-212" and could be successfully repel all attacks missiles with infrared homing.

During the period from May to September 2011 system «MANTA» more than 130 has been tested and held in the air up to 20 hours. Was also conducted about 500 starts. In addition, each conducted test was conducted with simultaneous firing of several types of MANPADS. It characterizes the system, it does not require identification of the type missiles, because she gives off a dual-band multi-beam laser. This beam is capable of virtually rocket from at least some infrared seeker "blind."

«MANTA» works in auto mode and electro-optical system tracks down the missile launch and brings her high-energy laser beam characteristics.

The speed of the act is very high. This makes it possible to protect the aircraft even when multiple missiles. A similar feature more and more urgent in the fight against terrorists, practicing attack aircraft of the shelters — with heavy fire, which guarantees the destruction of objects. Together with the fact the system «MANTA» the opportunity to pre-vent modern mobile anti-aircraft missile complexes with the highest density of fire.

First «MANTA» was designed for installation on the tanker aircraft and transport aircraft. But most recently, «Indra» plans to modify the system and adapt it to counter the attacks of the enemy and in helicopters.
