In the I quarter of 2012 in Russia maintained a positive trend in animal husbandry, made in 2011. For example, from January to March 2012, milk production increased by 279 thousand tons compared to the same period in 2011 (by 4.5%) and amounted to 6 million 482 thousand tons, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.
The largest increase provided the Republic of Bashkortostan (21.4%), Dagestan (+16.5%), Kabardino-Balkaria (12.2%), Voronezh (+15.1%), Sverdlovsk (+12%), Belgorod (+10.2%) and Vladimir (+10%) regions. Total milk production increased 64 regions.
In turn, the number of cattle increased by 223 thousand heads, including the number of cows — more than 195 thousand.

This growth in the I quarter on milk production and cattle observed for the first time in 22 years. The plans by the end of 2012 to achieve growth in production volume of more than 1 million tons (more than 33 million tons of milk).
