Earthquake in the Black Sea

Tremor power to 3 points occurred in the Black Sea, said on Saturday, September 10, "Interfax-Ukraine" with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

"At 18.26 on September 9 in the Black Sea (20 km from the coast of Yalta) recorded an earthquake force of up to 3 points without negative consequences," — said the press service.

As announced on August 10, near the city of Beregovo in the Transcarpathian region, an earthquake measuring 3-4, casualties and no injuries were reported, the destruction of buildings and structures have been recorded.

As noted, the Carpathians belong to the Vrancea seismic zone, which is located on the border of Ukraine and Romania in the Carpathian Mountains. This site has already made itself felt in 1940, 1977, 1986 and 1990. Seismologists believe that the threat to Ukraine lies in the peculiarities of the soil. Thus, in their view, the magnitude of 6 on the Richter scale on the border with Romania could result in eight or nine points on dvenadtsatiballnoy scale.

Recall, May 7, 2008 in the Black Sea, 120 kilometers south of Odessa — the Snake Island, an earthquake measuring 3 points.
