Earthquake of magnitude 6.8 occurred in Eastern Siberia

February 26. The earthquake occurred in Siberia on Sunday. Tremors felt residents of Irkutsk Region, Khakassia, RIA Novosti reported.

Tremors were felt in about four or five minutes, from 15:19 (10:19 MSK) to 15:24 local time. The residents of the upper floors of high-rise buildings fell from the top shelf stuff. The houses have cracked glass, swinging chandeliers.

Currently Baikal geophysical service and FEMA checking information about the epicenter seismic event.

According to Reuters, the magnitude of the earthquake was 6.8.

Late last year, December 27, an earthquake of magnitude 6.7 with intensity of 9.8 on a scale MSK-64 occurred in the Kaa-Khem district, 100 kilometers east of Kyzyl, at a depth of 10 kilometers.
