A major scientific discovery made by American archaeologists in Egypt, said on Saturday 24 April, Egyptian Minister of Culture Farouk Hosni. According to him, the American archaeological expedition discovered in the Tel al-burgh in the north of the Sinai Peninsula, the two fortresses, relating to the New Kingdom (the middle of the 2nd millennium BC). In particular, the "Black Fortress" is mentioned in the inscription on the tomb of Pharaoh Seti I at Karnak Temple Luxor. One of the forts had found the size of 100×100 meters and was made of brick, the other — the size of 80×100 meters with a wall thickness of four meters. During the excavation of the fortresses, which are found in the inscriptions of Thutmose III, Ahnatone Tutankhamen and found shards of pottery vessels from Cyprus, bronze arrowheads and spears, daggers. Archaeologists have also found an extensive network of irrigation canals, which were connected with the Nile. Scientists believe that this is evidence of the development of agriculture, particularly viticulture and winemaking. According to Hawass, the two fortresses were on the military road between Ancient Egypt and Palestine. They housed the regiment, which bore the name of the god Amun.
