Work on the three-volume atlas "Full of bird of European Russia" took six years and came ornithologists and photographers started the project three years ago.

"The atlas is a complete list of all 486 species that live in the European part of Russia. There are birds that sometimes we fly, then maybe we left a couple of species that once in 200 years there are in our territory. But all the usual birds and birds of passage we have listed, "- said Kalyakin.

As noted by the agency, this atlas is the determinant of every lover of birds will learn the name and the species of birds on the seen to the pictures and descriptions. At present, the "Complete determinant" is unique in the world in the number of described species of birds.

"Most of the atlas is devoted not to what kind of bird is where he lives, and how to distinguish one type from another. Great tits, we all know and are easily distinguished, and the rook on jackdaw at a great distance to distinguish is not so easy," — said the expert.

At the same time, the first time since the 60-ies of the last century, ornithologists were maps showing breeding and wintering birds of different species in the European part of the country, which are also included in the atlas.

According to the source, in 2013, planned to release bird atlas of Moscow, which will focus on the distribution of species of birds in the capital.

"For the first time in history, will be examined by all the area distribution of each species in the capital will be shown on a series of maps of Moscow. For Russia, it will mark the first atlas," — said Kalyakin.
