Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree on the establishment of the Russian military-historical society, a document published on the website of legal information. According to the decree, the founder of the Russian military and historical societies are the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Defense. The supreme governing body would be the Congress, which convened at the decision of the central council of the society. The chairman of the congress will be elected for six years.

Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation will provide representation in society, and to participate through a central board in the formation of the main activities. By the end of March this year, the Government of the Russian Federation entrusted with the composition of the federal property of the company passed to his Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Defense. It is planned that the company will receive an annual subsidy.

The decree came into force on the date of its signing.

Imperial Russian Military Historical Society was founded in 1907 and lasted until Revolution.
