Typhoon Nanmadol in the Philippines


MOSCOW, Aug. 28 — RIA Novosti. Strong typhoon "Nanmadol" became the most powerful of the Philippines struck this year, at least 13 people dead or missing as a result of the disaster, said on Sunday France Press.

"Nanmadol", which received its name in honor of the ancient capital of Micronesia, hit the north of the main island of the archipelago — Luzon, and now he was on his way towards the island of Taiwan. Typhoon accompanied by heavy rains and wind speeds of 230 kilometers per hour.

"Only when the rain stopped, we will be able to find all the victims of the elements and calculate the damage," — quoted by Emilia Tadeo (Emilia Tadeo), representative of the local Department of Civil Defense.

Five people were killed in a landslide, two men drowned, the fate of the six remaining unknown.

According to the Office of Civil Defense, from the northern mountainous regions of the country were evacuated about 20,000 people.

It is expected that "Nanmadol" descend on the island of Taiwan on Tuesday.

Every year during the rainy season from June to December in the Philippine archipelago falls about 20 storms and typhoons.
