Environmental voluntary action "pure ice of Baikal" for separate waste collection from the ice of the lake will be on March 30 in the Irkutsk region and April 5-6 in the Republic of Buryatia, told RIA Novosti the head of "Save Baikal" Maxim Tokarev.
"We expect that from Irkutsk we will have 300 people, and on the part of Buryatia — 100-150, the volunteers have become much more. Yet I would like to collect this year's less trash to see that the ratio of the lake has changed . I wish that in the future there is no debris appeared to rest your eye on it. If we do not remove, it will go under water, "- said Tokarev.
The action will take place in two stages: March 30, volunteers will conduct separate waste collection in Listvyanka, Irkutsk region, and April 5-6, clear the area near the village of Ust-Barguzin. Volunteers sort the garbage collected on glass, plastic and tin, which are then sent for organizers of the action will be processed in recyclables to factories in Novosibirsk and Krasnoyarsk.
As noted by the agency, the action is not only to clean the ice lake of debris, but also to draw public attention to the problem of waste collection and lack of processing plants to recycle waste.
