MOSCOW, September 14 — RIA Novosti. Earthquake of magnitude 5.9 occurred on Wednesday in the central part of Chile, the epicenter was located at 123 kilometers northwest of the capital, Santiago, the website of the U.S. Geological Survey.
The epicenter of the earthquake in 03.03 local time (11.03 MSK), located in the Pacific Ocean, 39 kilometers north of the port city of Valparaiso.
The earthquake lies at a depth of 19 kilometers. No casualties or damage were reported.
At the end of February 2010 in Chile by an earthquake of magnitude 8.8 and ensuing tsunami killed more than 500 people.
Chile is located in the zone of the Pacific "fire zone" where 85% of all recorded earthquakes in the world.
