The President of the downtrodden

Hugo Chavez believed the true word is stronger banging butts and clatter of shutters

Nikolai Leonov

He was only 58 years, the last 14 of which he served as head of state. His political career was dazzling, amazing charisma, the scale of government reforms in Venezuela and depth of regional and ecumenical projects for a long time to turn his country into the center of world events. And the president himself made man spoken of in the whole world. And it will say.

We all truly major political figures has a huge number of true supporters and fans, as well as many evil foes and enemies. Now the world is divided into those who are saddened by the passing of an outstanding reformer and patriot of Venezuela. And those who gleefully rubbing his hands and barely holding back his joy. The deepest mourning swept Latin America, for which Chavez has become a champion of the association of this part of the American continent with a view to complete elimination of the vassals of the United States.

He called his reform process in Venezuela "Bolivarian revolution" — in honor of Simon Bolivar, a native of Venezuela, who led at the beginning of the XIX century victorious struggle against the Latin American peoples against Spanish colonial rule.

Simon Bolivar — the ideological forerunner of Hugo Chavez — has also sought to create a union of Latin American nations to protect against any external attacks, including the United States.

The emergence of a whole galaxy of patriots of the continent, the fighters for national independence and social justice, was destined to win the Cuban revolution led by Fidel Castro in 1959. Cuba has shown throughout Latin America and the world: you can successfully challenge the most powerful nation in the world. Thus, the United States, which built its relations with Latin American countries on the basis of the "Monroe Doctrine" that read "America for the Americans" and, in practice, to treat them like a shark with sardines. Before the advent of the political arena Hugo Chavez shook the continent of national liberation performances. In 1965 a rebellion broke out the military, led by General Francisco Caamano in the Dominican Republic. To suppress, Washington had to go to an open armed intervention, to land in Santo Domingo, many thousands of Marines.

In 1968, Peru was a military coup led by army commander General Juan Velasco Alvarado, in which overthrew the pro-American government and the reforms began to weaken the position of foreign monopolies and the solution of social problems in the interests of the majority of the people.

In the same 1968 to power in Panama came progressive military led by Colonel Omar Torrijos, who made it their goal to return the country the Panama Canal. In 1970, the presidential elections in Chile defeated candidate leftist candidate Salvador Allende. Then there were the winning Sandinista revolution in Nicaragua in 1979, the elimination of the pro-American oligarchic governments of Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador, Bolivia …

In short, the emergence of the Latin American political scene in 1992, an unknown lieutenant colonel Hugo Chavez made an unsuccessful coup attempt, was not accidental.

It was prepared by a powerful upsurge of the national liberation movement on the continent, where for a long time is ripe to hate smug and arrogant Yankees.

Military dictators for a century former pillar of American dominance on the continent, were quickly out of the subordination to Washington. From "Watchmen American property on the continent" — the classification of Fidel Castro — they become carriers of national interests. In Latin America, the national memory reverently stores images only fighters for the independence and fairness, most of whom died before the age of the triumph of those ideals. Here and Cuban "Apostle of the Motherland" Jose Marti, Simon Bolivar, and Pancho Villa, and Augusto Sandino and Che Guevara, and many others.

Among the famous names will forever stand: Hugo Chavez. All those who are servile served the interests of the United States, rejected the nations. The courts pursued until his death murderous Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet, the Nicaraguan dictator Anastasio Somoza forever pinned to the pillory of history the words of President Franklin Roosevelt's "It's — son of a bitch, but he's our son of a bitch." And who remembers the Cuban dictator Fulgencio Batista, swept away by the revolution of 1959?

Hugo Chavez, like many of his predecessors, tried at first to come to power through a military coup — but without the excessive use of force. In 1992, when he became convinced that his attempt fails, then gave himself up to the authorities and urged his supporters to lay down their arms.

The two-year prison became his political academy. Upon his release, he was clearly on the path of democratic struggle for change, beginning to form an electoral bloc "Movement of the Fifth Republic."

In 1998, his association has declared itself seriously in the election, receiving 76 of the 189 seats in the House of Representatives and 18 seats out of 48 seats in the Senate. But as a person and political leader, he had no equal in Venezuela. In the election of the President in the same year, he won an indisputable victory, gaining more than 55 percent of the vote.

Hatred for the traditional political clans of the country, based on the financial and promotional support to the U.S. has been immeasurable. In 2002, they, with the help of top army, attempted a coup against the elected head of state. For two days they put away under lock and Hugo Chavez, while the townsfolk tales told reporters about the inability of the president to govern. But the majority of the army did not support the coup, and soon the rebels were forced to surrender. No mass repression against its political opponents of Hugo Chavez did not undertake, and taking advantage of democratic freedoms in the country, the opposition in 2004 imposed a requirement to hold a national referendum on impeachment of the President. He picked up the gauntlet thrown down by his opponents and agreed to the court of the people: as a result has the full support of nearly 60 percent of voters. Then he says: "I more often than any other Latin American president, had his fate in the municipal, parliamentary, presidential and other elections, and always won." And he won the last election in the autumn of 2012, and only a serious illness and death interrupted his triumphant way to achieve higher goals.

Often the question arises: why did a phenomenal political success of Hugo Chavez? The answer can be found in its social program. He awakened to political life of millions of Venezuelans, especially the illiterate and the poor, who lived for decades in the civil isolation.

He himself was the son of the indigenous peoples of Venezuela, in his veins flowed the blood of Indians, blacks and Creoles. He openly stated that indigenous peoples have the right to their land, which land owners have taken from their ancestors. Hugo Chavez began to pursue a broad national program for the elimination of illiteracy. In this he was helped by the Cubans, who have extensive experience in this business, they also helped to make the necessary teaching materials to combat illiteracy.

For the first time, "humiliated and insulted" the Venezuelan people learned what a modern free medical care. At the request of Hugo Chavez in Venezuela, the Cubans sent troops doctors numbering 30,000 people, which radically changed the entire health care system in the country. Dozens of mobile "operating room" began to visit the towns and villages of Venezuela, fast and free sight restoring cataract patients thousands of people — a disease common in tropical areas.

For the formation of the New Patriotic Venezuelan government of Hugo Chavez intellectuals established student scholarships at $ 100, making it easier for higher education people from the lower social strata. Sometimes, even, he issued a decree abolished the entrance exams to universities to make way for commoners to education. The President has a large program of nationalization of foreign property in Venezuela. In particular this applies to the oil and gas industry, telecommunications and power.

It is clear that such measures were not to the taste of most of the urban bourgeoisie and the intelligentsia, their weight and value declined amid the country in the new political and social forces.

The position of opponents of Hugo Chavez in Venezuela is considerable, on their side for a long time experience of organization and management in the hands of their massive propaganda machine, they have unlimited support from the United States.

If the head of state all its political transformation of the social order, or implemented by democratic measures, his opponents will not stop before any violent acts per victory. We must remember that Augusto Pinochet in Chile in 1973 went to the bombing of the presidential palace and the physical elimination of the democratically elected President Salvador Allende, to disrupt the democratic transformation. Hugo Chavez has gone through the same purgatory in 2002.

He rejected any hint of retention of power by force. Created the United Socialist Party of Venezuela, which aims to ensure the continuity of the revolutionary process initiated by it. For a long time personally served as a political educator of the widest public television audience. Having created the program "Hello, President!" It for a few days a week for half an hour appeared on television, answering questions from the audience, explaining this or that government steps, hearing the reports of the air officers … When circumstances required it, he could not stay in front of TV cameras very long time, even set a record in more than 8 hours. He believed that the true word effectively knocking butts and clatter of the gate.

The fate of the Bolivarian Revolution will be decided at the ballot box, where after 30 days will have to come Venezuelans to choose a new president.

Russia and all her citizens should wish attributed the victory to a candidate who will put forward as a program to continue the course of Hugo Chavez. We have great interest in this country.

Caracas is now one of the largest buyers of Russian weapons. Our oil and gas companies have serious backlogs in the search for new oil fields in Venezuela. However, significant investments in this country have already been made and China. Hugo Chavez, for all its critical stance towards the United States, carefully complied with all contractual obligations to supply oil, which is trying to hold back the liberal media. At the same time, Venezuela has helped hydrocarbons particularly needy Caribbean countries, particularly Nicaragua. Cuba also receives oil from Venezuela — after the last of its obligations to the United States.

For the whole of Latin America, Hugo Chavez death means the loss of not only a good neighbor, ready to provide assistance in the event of difficulties, but also the generator of large-scale onshore projects. So, Hugo Chavez put forward the idea of a unified Latin American currency — the bolivar to exclude from the calculation of the dollar between the countries of this part of the continent. He devised a plan to build the world's largest gas pipeline, which would bring together all the countries of Latin America in a single energy ring. And, of course, dreamed to become a reality project a unified Latino community, which would become a guarantor of its independence and sustainable development.

Peace be upon the great Venezuelan patriot and an outstanding statesman Hugo Chavez!
