Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, February 24 — RIA Novosti. Earthquake of magnitude 5.1 occurred on Thursday in the Gulf of Kamchatka in the east coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula, told RIA Novosti the regional branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences Geophysical Service.
The epicenter was registered on Thursday night, was located 70 kilometers south-west of the district center of Ust-Kamchatsky at a depth of 61.9 kilometers under the seabed. Information on casualties or damage in populated areas have been reported.
A few hours earlier, an earthquake of magnitude 4.6 was recorded in Kronotsky Bay, 130 kilometers north-east of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, at a depth of 90 kilometers under the seabed. Residents of the regional center of essential tremors are not felt. The threat of a tsunami has not been announced.
