Development of Minsk and Novosibirsk scientists to 2 times increase the life of the contact wire

Minsk and Novosibirsk scientists develop method twice reduces the friction of contact wires with electric current collectors. On the development, made to order "Russian railways", told reporters director of the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics Vasily Fomin.

"For a little added copper wire Teflon as a result we are not essential to the five percent lost by the removal of electricity, but two orders of reduced friction," — said Fomin.

The next step will be the implementation of creating a facility that will spray Teflon and contact wires without tripping contact network of Voltage and stopping trains.

Mr. Fomin, the new technology can also be used for trams and trolleybuses.

Members of the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences completed research with colleagues from the Institute of Heat and Mass Transfer of AV Lykov of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

In Akademgorodok today opened the 31st meeting of the regular seminar at the Parliamentary Assembly on the State of the Union — Russia and Belarus.
