A few years back the clock, it became clear that the American company Zyvex Marine began developing a new multi-purpose unmanned boat. This technique does not yet have much any perceptible spread because any announcements about unmanned floating facilities receive wide distribution. Thus, in March 2010 the news of the boat Piranha («Piranha») scattered through the pages of the press, and in some cases even began to draw from the development of Zyvex universal tool for the future of the war on the water. Project developers, in turn, says the calmer and more modest. According to them, ‘Piranha’ was supposed to be just only layout for easy universal surface platform.
As of early 2010, the project looked Piranha followed properly. Outside is a small boat 16 meters in length and with a displacement (without load) about 3-3.5 tons. At the same time, even the fuel savings alone can intrigue potential customers, because the range of actions is one of the most important characteristics of at least some boats.
Currently, prototypes of «Piranha» in the version with a man on board undergoing sea tests. Engineers of the developer generally satisfied with their work, but a lot of bugs only to be corrected. It, but does not prevent them already at the moment to create plans for the future. For example, now in the design office Zyvex Marine boats worked two options based on the «Piranha». Projects are designated LRV-11 and LRV-17. Apart they are different weight and size parameters and a number of associated problems. And the 11th and 17th boats immediately offered to produce a 2-versions. One will have a real control station, as in other «manned» boats, and the other will be built unmanned.
