Fish production is growing

Amid rising yields in January-February 2013 compared to January-February 2012 production of live fish, fresh or chilled, as well as crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, increased by 6%  to 203.1 thousand tons, according to news agency Fisheries, referring to the Federal State Statistics Service.

At the same time, in February of this year, as in January of this year in all federal districts recorded a steady increase in the production of live fish, fresh or chilled. Thus, in January-February this year compared to January-February pa production of live fish, fresh and chilled rose in the Central District — by 1% to 1.8 million tons, the Far Eastern District — by 2.9% to 159.8 thousand tons, Northwestern District — by 5.2% to 20.5 thousand tons, Volga District — by 7.2% to 461. tons, Siberian District — 8.3% to 1.2 million tons, the Urals region — 8.3% to 2.4 million tons, Southern District — 69.8% to 11.8 thousand tons, North Caucasus region — by 93.2% to 649 tonnes.
