24.02.12.Bolee 400 elephants have been killed in two months in the national park Bubandzhida, which is located in the north of Cameroon, reports AFP.
According to the staff of the park, killing 480 animals. So far they have found 458 carcasses. However, this figure could be much higher, because the territory of the park is 220 hectares, and to search it thoroughly, take a long time.
Presumably, the animals hunted by poachers armed with automatic rifles. They travel in groups on horseback. They kill elephants for their tusks, which are then sold on the black market.
Reserve staff complain that the government has taken no significant action to stop the poachers.
