The reactor at the plant in France stopped due to technical failure

PARIS, Feb. 10 — RIA Novosti. The reactor at the plant "Kattenom" in the north-east of France was automatically stopped on Friday night due to minor technical problems, said on Friday the country's largest power company Electricite de France (EDF).

"On Friday, February 10 at 02.45 (05.45 MSK) reactor No. 2 was automatically stopped due to a technical failure of the alternator (non-nuclear part of the plant equipment, which allows you to convert the mechanical energy of the turbine into electricity)," — said the EDF.

EDF experts studying failure and explain the reasons for failure. "This event does not have any impact on plant safety, the environment and the people," — said in a statement.

Reactors 1, 3 and 4 are functioning normally, noted in EDF. It is expected that the preparation of restarting the reactor would take several days.
