Russia began the construction of nuclear power plant in Vietnam

State Corporation "Rosatom" has started construction of the first nuclear power plant in Vietnam. As the press service of the company, the construction is carried out in the framework of the Russian-Vietnamese intergovernmental agreement. At the site in the province of Ninh Thuan installed 10 drilling rigs and displayed more than 20 pieces of construction equipment, not including portable equipment.


"In a ceremony that preceded the beginning of the work, attended by heads of Ninh Thuan province and Vietnamese electricity company EVN, which is a customer of building nuclear power plants", — explained in the Rosatom.

At the first stage of the Russian experts will make a detailed study of the site. Then, based on the results of the project will be carried out for the construction of nuclear power plants of Russian design VVER technology (pressurized water reactor), which today is one of the safest in the world.

Unfolding site work was carried out as soon as possible: the contract to begin work was signed in Hanoi November 21, 2011 at a meeting of the co-chairs of the Russian-Vietnamese intergovernmental commission on trade-economic and scientific-technical cooperation, First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov and Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai. Permission to begin work by the Vietnamese side were issued December 1, 2011.

Most of the preparatory work carried out by Russian specialists in the preparation of contract documents as quickly as possible to agree on a map work to fulfill the licensing procedures in accordance with local regulations, and to get the People's Committee of Ninh Thuan Province to start work at the site of the future plant, ITAR-TASS .
