In accordance with the agreement signed with the Russian state corporation "Rosatom", the 2000 MW nuclear power plant will be built in the north-western coast of Bangladesh. The project envisages the construction of two units of 1000 MW each. Completion is scheduled for 2017-2018 years. The project cost is estimated at $ 2 billion, "Rosatom", in particular, will be the supplier of fuel for nuclear power plants and reprocessing of spent fuel will.
The construction of the first nuclear power plant in Bangladesh would reduce the deficit of electricity in the country, which leads to economic losses of $ 1 billion annually.
