DAN Russian instrument on board the Mars rover Curiosity found in the crater Gale "oases" — "spots" with high water content, the origin of which is unclear, deputy supervisor of the experiment DAN Maxim Litvak.
Speaking at a conference in Houston LPSC, Litvack said that since the Curiosity rover's landing in August 2012 DAN performed several hundred measurements of the surface along the path of motion. Processing of data showed that the proportion of water in the soil layer thickness of about 60 centimeters (maximum depth "view" of the instrument DAN) varies from 1% to 4%. The individual parts of the surface of the planet were strong enough moistened. When a certain percentage of their imagination can be called "oases" in the Martian desert, Litvack said.
