On the day of the 66th anniversary of the Shipyard "Yantar", July 8, the solemn ceremony of the second in a row frigate being built for the Navy of Russia. This is the first in the modern history of the Russian Navy contract to build a series of warships.

The new frigate "Admiral Essen" will be the second of a series of project 11356, the construction of which is entrusted to perform collective Kaliningrad enterprise. The first frigate "Admiral Grigorovich", intended for the Black Sea Fleet, was laid on the stocks of "Amber" December 18, 2010.

As reported at the opening ceremony of the Commander of the Baltic Fleet, Vice Admiral Viktor Chirkov, the ship "Admiral Essen" is also intended for the Black Sea Fleet. Total of the project at the "Amber" is planned to build six ships.
"This is just the beginning, we will lay the next fall, and three ships. And get a whole series of ships you will build and, therefore, provided with work, and the state will ensure its protection from the sea " — Addressed the audience at the ceremony Teals.
At the groundbreaking ceremony was attended by the ship and the descendants of Admiral von Essen — nephew and great-nephew.

In turn, the Acting General Director of Shipyard "Yantar" Alexander Konovalov congratulated everyone on the day of the plant and assured those present that this order will be completed on schedule.

The first two frigates — "Admiral Grigorovich" and "Admiral Essen" — shipbuilders must pass to the customer at the end of 2013, the third tab of which is scheduled for the autumn, at the beginning of 2014. Project 11356 frigates are designed to lead to the ocean and marine areas of combat operations against surface ships and submarines of the enemy, preventing attacks of air attack, both independently and as part of the connection of ships as escorts.
