Autotor and Magna began a collaboration in the creation of the automotive cluster in the Kaliningrad region


The company "Autotor Holding" and the Canadian manufacturer and automotive supplier Magna International Europe AG to Thursday, November 22, signed a general agreement on cooperation in the establishment of the Kaliningrad region of the cluster auto production capacity of at least 250,000 vehicles a year, said the Russian company. 

The total investment in capacity was more than 118 billion rubles. Of these, the own funds of the group of companies "Autotor" — 21 billion rubles, funds from foreign partners — and 21 billion rubles. BORROWING — 42 billion rubles. The objects of social and engineering infrastructure is planned to spend 34 billion rubles.

According to President of Magna International Europe AG Gunther Apfaltera in the last year and a half intensive negotiations, the next month will develop a plan to increase the localization of production in the Kaliningrad region.

In turn, chairman of the board of directors of the company "Autotor" Vladimir Shcherbakov said that the region will create 27,000 jobs, which will correct the socio-economic situation in the region.

 "In the new phase we will build 21 plants will develop co-production, first of all, chemicals, petrochemicals, plastics, metal, especially aluminum …" — said Shcherbakov.

At present, the localization level of 30%, by 2018 it will grow to 48%, and by 2022 — up to 50%. According to him, within the cluster will be set up engineering center.

The project will organize up to 27,000 new jobs in the region and involves the deployment in the vicinity of Kaliningrad automotive complex. According to the plans, it brings together new plants to produce cars and new joint ventures for the production of automotive components. In total, the cluster will include up to six auto plants and at least 15 plants for the production of automotive components, which will be produced in-house or other supplies to the automotive industry in Russia and abroad. Clarifies that Magna will develop the engineering part of the project, and in the future will be able to act as a partner to localize production of auto components in the Kaliningrad region.

The first phase of the cluster has been reported to be launched by 2016. In total, the automotive cluster is planned to build 21 new plant. Investment in the project will amount to about 90 billion rubles. According to plans, the amount of the annual output will reach more than 300 billion rubles.

Autotor — the company to produce cars of famous foreign brands: BMW, GM, OPEL, KIA, HYUNDAI. Production facilities are located in the Kaliningrad region — four companies, including welding and painting, assembly and test facilities. In 2011 Autotor produced 222,000 cars. Commodity output reached 148.2 billion rubles, and tax payments to the budgets of all levels amounted to 23.0 billion rubles. The number of employees in the company exceeds 3,500 people, and with companies subcontractors reaches 10,000 workers.
