A few years ago in Russia there was an educational program "Robotics" . According to the official site, it includes three main areas: 

GENERAL ROBOTICS — mechatronics, robotics and high technology in general education and hobbies
PROFESSIONAL ROBOTICS — mechatronics, robotics, technology in vocational education, identification and promotion of promising personnel for high-tech industries
Innovation and entrepreneurship — promoting youth innovation and entrepreneurial initiatives, self-employment of young people in high technology, the creation of businesses in high-tech program participants

Will focus on the professional robotics. Within this framework, conducted two basic types of competitions:
• Robofest — the competition of mobile robots in their classes, qualification for participation in the Asia-Pacific robot contest ABU ROBOCON. 
• Robokross — the competition of unmanned robotic vehicles. About them today will be discussed.

Robokross 2010.
According to the results of the 2010 Robofest teams, participants were presented with 6 cars "Gazelle biznees" for their conversion into unmanned vehicles and handed the invitation to Robokross. Competitions were held (for the first time in Russian) July 18, 2010 at the Youth Forum "Seliger 2010. Teams participating universities represented such as:
• Moscow Road Institute, 
• Kovrovskaya State Technological Academy, 
• Saratov State Technical University, 
• Ryazan State Radio Engineering University, 
• Automotive Technical Nizhny Novgorod, 
• Nizhny Novgorod State University. Novgorod.
One of their sponsors ("Tehnovizhn") also introduced to attend his gazelle.

According to the rules, cars had to stand-alone (without operator) to perform three tasks:
• ride in a straight line from point to point — the task was a qualifying race 
• drive through the U-shaped trajectory — about 100 by 30 meters 
• drive through the complex curve with a total length of about 400m.

Route wondered traffic cones apart on the track. The participating teams could advance to get the route and take the coordinates of nodal points for their cars — the main navigation system GLONASS was / GPS (prerequisite competition) — Geos-1M. Another prerequisite was the availability of an emergency stop (like a system of E-STOP).

Robokross-2011.
Competitions were held again on the shores of Lake Seliger. At this time, the rules have become more complex. 
Assignments have included not only the stand-alone version of the vehicle, but the manual:
• Stir in stand-alone mode, the forward and stop — qualification.
• Driving in manual mode — "intelligence". It was necessary to come to a point with a given geographical coordinates (the coordinates were given half an hour before the race). At this point, there was a subject that needed to be identified, and pass it to the image. 
• Driving off-line on a curve (also defined by the coordinates of the nodal points), a total length of 500 m — ‘transport’. 

On the track there were obstacles, the width of the corridor in the most confined spaces was about 3m (with an average error of GLONASS / GPS receiver at 10m). The movement from point to point passed along an arbitrary path with the obezdili obstacles. The accuracy and the passage of the track. Detection and obezdili obstacles was made all in different ways — someone used a laser scanner (sick) and built a map, someone used the ultrasonic range finder (which uses the prinitspe, I see an obstacle, I start to turn up, as long as the obstacle is out of traffic areas).
Requirements for navigation and emergency stops are not changed. 

This time, besides taking part Gazelles homemade vehicles and passenger cars. Qualifications were able to pass 7 stransportnyh funds.

According to the results of the team competition winner received the right to participate in European competitions unmanned vehicles M-ELROB, 2012, which will be held in autumn in Switzerland. For the first time Russia takes part in major competitions unmanned robotic vehicles.
