November 29 in the industrial park "Rosva" Kaluga region was laid the foundation stone of a plant for the production of tires for passenger cars of the German company Continental.
At the first stage, the company will invest about 240 million euros, will create 800 jobs, the construction of the plant will be completed by October 2013
The new plant will produce summer and winter car tire brands: Continental, Gislaved, Barum and Matador. Initial production capacity is 4 million tires a year, but the long-term plans of the company in Kaluga, Continental include increasing production to 8 million tires a year.
According to Anatoly Artamonov, this event is a prime example of successful cooperation of the foreign business and regional authorities in Russia. Kaluga region — one of the few centers of the new car industry in the country. Therefore, the creation of the enterprise for the production of tires is an important step in the formation of the automotive cluster in the region.
