Up to this point oil to customers in Asia Pacific, including Japan, was pumped through the pipes only to Skovorodino in the Amur region, where it was delivered by rail to the port Koz’mino where the raw materials were shipped in tankers.

The path from there to the Japanese ports takes about 48 hours. At the same time, the Middle East, where Japan has received more than 80 percent of its oil, tankers coming weeks, they are threatened by pirates in the region of Africa and the Strait of Malacca. So importers are showing growing interest in products ESPO — especially since East Siberian oil is of high quality. According to experts, Japan will buy at least 30 percent of oil flowing through the pipeline in Koz’mino.
