Press-service of "Evraz" reports that the company has completed at Novokuznetsk Iron and Steel Works (NKMK) the first stage of modernization of rail and shops. Today held a ceremonial launch an updated production, which was attended by the governor of the Kemerovo region Aman Tuleyev and vice-president of JSC "Russian Railways" Vladimir Vorobyov.
The project allowed and installing the most advanced to date equipment, NKMK will be the first Russian producer of 25-meter rails fundamentally new quality.
New equipment and new technologies to meet the requirement of modern Russian standards for railroad rails and meet the requirements of the most advanced European standards for the geometric parameters and the purity of rail steel.
Investments of "Eurasia" in the first phase of modernization was 44 million euros.
The production capacity of rail and shops after the completion of the first phase of modernization will be 750 thousand tons of rails per year. "Evraz" produces NKMK rails for railway, tram and subway lines.
The second stage of modernization of rail and structural steel plant NKMK "Evraz" plans to complete in 2012. Upon its completion, Novokuznetsk Iron and Steel Works will start producing 100-meter differential thermal hardening of the rail level of the world’s top manufacturers.
At present, Russia hundred-meter rails are not made.
"Evraz" is the largest producer of rails in the world and the only company that produces the rails in Russia. The structure of "Eurasia" includes two rail mill in Russia (NKMK NTMK in Siberia and the Urals region), as well as factory rails "Rocky Mountain" in the state of Colorado in the United States. General power of "Eurasia" to produce rails up more than 1.6 million tons per year, including more than 1.1 million tons in Russia.
