Fifty ships of the Pacific Fleet out to exercise in the Sea of Japan and Okhotsk Seas

More than 50 ships of the Pacific Fleet (PF) will hold military exercises in the Sea of Japan and Okhotsk seas, told the commander of the troops and forces in the north-east of Rear Admiral Konstantin ILCA.

The active phase of the exercise, which began in late August, will last until the end of September. "More than 50 ships of the Pacific Fleet will work out issues of cooperation in countering international terrorism during the exercise in the Sea of Japan and Okhotsk seas, and in the north-western part of the Pacific" — said the ILCA.

The Rear Admiral said that the maneuvers will also be attended by 35 support ships, 50 aircraft and helicopters, as well as up to 10,000 military and civilian personnel.

"The main objective of the exercise — training actions to curb piracy and poaching, as well as the prevention of diversion of extremist organizations in the oil and gas facilities are located in Japan and Okhotsk seas," — he said.
ILCA said that at present, an active phase of the exercises. The maneuvers will be held in accordance with the plan of the Pacific Fleet in 2011, RIA Novosti reported.
