Ford Sollers joint venture started the construction of the engine plant in Russia

May 14, in the SEZ "Alabuga" (Tatarstan), a start construction of the engine plant of Ford Sollers, which will be equipped cars produced in Russia Ford.

Chief Operating Officer of Ford Motor Co. Mark Fields told reporters that in 2012 the company has invested in Russia $ 100 million project to produce engines plans to invest $ 274 million 

These engines will be equipped cars Ford Focus and Ford Mondeo, which are produced in Vsevolozhsk (Leningrad region). Currently, all of the engines for them shipped from the UK and Brazil.

In the future, the engine range will be expanded, said M.Filds. According to him, the localization project is implemented in accordance with the agreement on industrial assembly.

The plant is scheduled to be commissioned in December 2015. At the first stage of the plant’s capacity will be 105 thousand units per year with a possible increase to 200 thousand units per year.

Speaking of sales forecast in Russia, President and CEO Ford Sollers Ted Kannis told reporters that at present, "the market is fully consistent with the original projections, which have been included in the business plan." According to him, the situation on the Russian market are better than in Europe. However, since the beginning of 2013 the growth rate of sales in Russia compared to the previous year declined slightly. At the same time T.Kannis expressed the hope that the Russian market will behave consistently, the market will overtake Germany and become the number one in Europe.

In the Russian joint venture assembles 7 models Ford: Mondeo and Focus in Vsevolozhsk; Transit, Kuga, S-MAX, Galaxy, Explorer in Elabuge. Next year we plan to run the plant in Naberezhnye Chelny. Power plants in Tatarstan should reach 200 thousand cars a year.
