From 2007 to 2011. demand for ethanol in Russia fell by nearly 6%

According market analysis of ethanol, prepared BusinesStat in 2012, for the period from 2007 to 2011. demand for ethanol in Russia fell by nearly 6%, from 895 to 843 million liters. The greatest reduction in demand from previous years was observed in 2009 — nearly 6%. In the 2012-2016 years. it is expected that the demand for ethanol will decline by an average of 0.3% per year. In 2016 the volume of demand will be reduced to 829 million liters. As a major consumer of edible ethyl alcohol in Russia is the alcoholic beverage industry, market experts see the cause of the fall in demand for ethanol in changing the culture of consumption of alcoholic beverages. The demand for liquor is reduced, but the growing consumption of soft drinks, beer and cocktails.

Ethyl alcohol in the Russian market mainly realized through domestic trade. In the years 20072011. the share of domestic sales in the structure of demand ranged from 99% in 2007 to 95% in 2011

During the period from 2007 to 2011. valorem sales volume of ethyl alcohol in Russia increased by 24%, from 52 to 64 billion rubles. In 2009 valorem turnover of ethyl alcohol declined from the previous year by 7% to less than 53 billion dollars in 2008 and in 2011, despite a decrease in sales volume of ethanol, and 1 to 3% compared to previous years, valorem, turnover increased by 10 and 21%, due to higher wholesale prices by 13 and 22%.
