Gazprom International has completed drilling of wells in Bangladesh


Gazprom International, one specialized enterprise of JSC "Gazprom" for the implementation of foreign oil and gas upstream-projects, completed the cycle of drilling operations at the well "Titas-20" before the open gas field "Titas" in Bangladesh.

And exploration drilling, which is the operator of the project in February of this year, reached the design depth of the well 3532 meters. A complex geological and geophysical studies. Preparations for the production of gas.  
"Titas-20" — the first of five wells, which according to the service contract with the Bangladeshi side, Gazprom International will design and drill for the company BGFCL, a subsidiary of the national oil and gas corporation Petrobangla.

Previously, the operator has completed drilling operations at the well "Shrikayl-3" under contract with another entity Petrobangla, the company BAPEX.

In total, according to the two contracts signed with the Bangladesh side in April 2012, Gazprom International will design and drilled 10 wells to a depth of 4050 m in the fields Titas (four wells), Shahbazpur (two wells), and — Rashidpur, Semutang, Begumgandzh and Shrikayl (one hole).

Bangladesh desperately needs to increase its own gas, which is used mainly for the production of fertilizers and power plants.

In recent years, the search and exploration of new fields in Bangladesh were not conducted in connection with which the Government has adopted a program for the drilling of new wells.
