GM, Hyundai, Nissan and Toyota in St. Petersburg for the first 9 months increased production of 4-fold to 167,100 vehicles

PETERSBURG, October 19 — Prime. Petersburg carmakers GM, Hyundai, Nissan and Toyota in January-September 2011 increased production of vehicles compared to the same period in 2010, the 4-fold to 167,100 units, reported today analytical agency «Auto-Dealer-SPb".


According to the agency, in September, the St. Petersburg auto factories Hyundai, General Motors, Nissan and Toyota have released 28,600 vehicles, which is 3.4 times more than the same period last year. In September of this year in St. Petersburg, produced an average of 950 vehicles per day.

The agency «Auto-Dealer-SPb" explained that September was the first month since May, when all the auto factories of the city were working non-stop. During May to August in all enterprises had technical stop or collective holidays that affect the overall dynamics of the production of cars. But in the summer plants Hyundai, Nissan and Toyota were recruited additional staff to increase the assembly, which has already affected by the September rate. In October, taking into account General Motors plant in the non-stop schedule of expected growth rate next car production for the month.

The last month of the year, when the whole of St. Petersburg auto industry worked without a hitch, began in April, when the city had issued 20,800 cars. In September, the figure was exceeded by 37.5%. The largest increase has provided kicked off in August, production of the new budget sedan Kia Rio at the factory Hyundai.

Car production in St. Petersburg in the III quarter exceeded the figure for the I and II quarters of this year. In January-March, the city had produced 39,600 vehicles in April-June, 59 800, in July-September, the figure was 67,700 vehicles (or 40.5% of total vehicle production in St. Petersburg for all of Q3 2011 years).

If car manufacturers Hyundai, Nissan and Toyota will maintain current production volumes, and General Motors in October, their increase, by the end of the year in St. Petersburg could be released about 255-260 thousand vehicles, the agency predicts.

Share of St. Petersburg auto industry in relation to the total car production in Russia continues to grow. In the first nine months of this year, it was 12.85% (in the first eight months, it was 12.7%).

A total of four auto plants in St. Petersburg Toyota, GM, Nissan and Hyundai produced 10 models of cars — Chevrolet Cruze, Opel Astra, Chevrolet Captiva, Opel Antara, Nissan Teana, Nissan X-Trail, Nissan Murano, Toyota Camry, Hyundai Solaris and Kia Rio. Three of them — Solaris, Astra, Cruze, following September entered the top 25 best-selling models of cars in Russia.
