The discovery of the perinatal center in the framework of the national project "New Life" for the Kirovograd region is very significant, because the maternal and infant mortality rates in the region, the worst in Ukraine. Therefore, of all the 11 national projects that are being developed by the State Agency, the project "New Life" is the most strategically important and vital.
The demographic crisis in Ukraine continued for 20 years. Over the years, we lost 5 million children under the age of 14 years, every two hours a child dies before the age of one year, and last year for obstetric reasons, 75 women died, two of them in the Kirovograd region. These figures today, calls for urgent changes.
Government approach to addressing maternal and child health, is systemic and not limited to the discovery of the perinatal centers. Thus, since 2007, Ukraine registers infants weighing 500 grams. And for the last 4 years indicator viability of such children has doubled — from 30 to 57%. For these children, it is imperative to provide equipment for the diagnosis of retinopathy, which can cause blindness child. The Ministry of Health should provide every perinatal center retinal camera, which will annually prevent 200 cases of blindness in children. It is also important that in the process of reforming the industry began training health workers and has 900 professionals have been post-graduate training in new perinatal technologies.
