In Orenburg, a monument to the Children of War


The park is named Gus’kova regional center opened a new monument dedicated to the children of war.

The first stone on the site of the monument was officially founded in December 2010. The initiative to create the monument belongs to the very Orenburg. 

— In December 2010, we’ll have laid the first stone, and today a monument to a generation of our citizens are ready to open. These people with their work and perseverance lifted the country out of postwar chaos. I should mention that in July of this year, Orenburg was awarded the honorary title of "City of labor glory. ‘" First of all, this high estimate is for just war children who have shown outstanding resistance in the recovery and construction of the national economy in the postwar period — said the Mayor Yuri Mishcheryakov. — I thank all the citizens who have taken an active part in raising funds for the creation of the monument.

During the opening ceremony, all participants of the initiative group to establish a municipal monument received awards.

— We often talk about the heroism of the Soviet soldiers and officers who "fiery 40th" — said Deputy Mayor Andriy Shevchenko. — However, the share of children of war also fell ordeal: constant hunger, hard work and constant expectation of news from their fathers and brothers who fought for their country.
