In Russia, a new air-to-air missile short-range

The Russian military-industrial complex has created a rocket class "air-to-air" designed to defeat highly maneuverable and stealth air targets, the newspaper "Izvestia", citing a source in the defense industry. The new missile will be part of the nomenclature of arms promising fighter T-50 (PAK FA), which entered service with the Russian Air Force in 2015. According to the newspaper, the new missile is only known that the weight of its warhead is eight kilograms with a total weight of one hundred pounds of ammunition. Length of RVV-MD is about three meters. The missile is capable of hitting airborne targets flying at an altitude of 20 to 20 thousand feet at a distance of 300 meters to 40 kilometers. In addition, the new missile is equipped with a multi-band thermal homing head, which has a high noise immunity. In particular, the guidance system of the RVV-MD is able to tell the difference between radiation and LTC aerial target. The source said the newspaper, RVV-MD is the first Russian multi-band missile.

Earlier it was reported that in March 2013 to begin official testing promising fighter T-50 with standard weapons. The tests will be carried out during the year, they will be attended eight prototypes of the PAK FA.
