Nuclear submarine "Yury Dolgoruky"
"It is planned to build more than 20 strategic submarines in the next 10-12, in the extreme case of a 15 years", — said the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Vladimir Vysotsky, Russia at a meeting of the Marine Board of the Government of the Russian Federation in St. Petersburg on Tuesday.
Earlier it was reported that the total will be built eight-class submarine "Northwind". Until the end, the first submarine of this project, "Yury Dolgoruky" should arrive at the disposal of the Pacific Fleet. In the near future it is expected commissioning of the nuclear submarine "Alexander Nevsky", "Vladimir Monomakh" and "St. Nicholas".
The first four submarines "Borey" project will be based in the Pacific Fleet. In today’s statement, cited by Interfax, Admiral Vysotsky did not specify how many of the 20 planned strategic nuclear submarines will be at the disposal of the Northern Fleet and based on the coast of the Kola Peninsula.
Today, strategic submarines of the "Borei" based only on the Sevmash in Severodvinsk.
In addition to 20 new strategic nuclear submarines of the Russian Navy will receive 10 new attack submarines of the "Ash» (BarentsObserver, 22.08.11).
