Company T8 — Russian manufacturer of equipment for the transmission of data over fiber optic cables due to the use of technology DWDM — announced the establishment of the world record for distance signal transmission in a single-span lines to a remote pumping. Companies unable to transmit a signal speed of 100 Gb / s 500 km without repeaters active. The tests resulted in a record with the new transponder aggregates the "Volga", which was developed in the company.Earlier distance record data in a single-span line at 100 Gbit / s was 462 km. The demonstration took place in the record company’s laboratory in the presence of technical director of the Russian representative office of Corning (fiber manufacturer used in the experiment) Sergei Akopova.

During the tests there was used regenerative repeaters points or electrically powered. For data modulation format used DP-QPSK and coherent detection. Improving the quality of the signal was achieved through the use of counter-Raman amplification and remote pumping intermediate erbium amplifiers (ROPA).

T8 Company has demonstrated solutions for signal transmission on a channel length of 500 km at a speed of 40 Gbit / s. On a related development took about 3 years. Then began the creation of solutions at a rate of 100 Gbit / s, it took 1.5 years. Thus, just to reach the record company had to work 4.5 years, its CEO says Vladimir Treschikov. The total cost of both solutions was 150 — 200 million rubles.

Advantage generated solutions is that along the channel does not need to set the active amplifier device and for their infrastructure(Sources of energy, space, etc.).
