December 9, 2011 the grand opening Information Centre for Nuclear Energy in Smolensk. The opening ceremony was held in the center of the hero of the Fatherland Day was dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the space flight son Smolensk land Yuri Gagarin.
Present at the opening of the center guests and journalists were shown an excerpt of the main multimedia program "The World of Nuclear Energy", culminating in an interactive unit — the game "Gather nuclear reactor."
The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the Smolensk regional and city administration, the State Corporation "Rosatom", the Smolensk nuclear power plant, as well as representatives of the scientific and educational community.
In his opening speech, the director of museum programs of the State Corporation "Rosatom" Nikolay Doronin said: "I am happy to open the Information Center in Smolensk. Through the use of the most modern multi-media in it every day will be able to get acquainted with the atomic energy. And I am sure that our primary goal — to sensitize and educate young people — will be successfully implemented ". […]
The information center is located in the territory of the Smolensk State University — one of the oldest universities of the country. A huge contribution to the organization opening the the students and faculty of the University, whose leadership pays great attention to the education of schoolchildren in the natural sciences and the introduction of innovative technologies in the educational process.
Opened center was already 14th in the country. These centers are also in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Vladimir, Yekaterinburg, Ulyanovsk, Voronezh, Kaliningrad, Krasnoyarsk, Murmansk, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Rostov-on-Don, Tomsk, Chelyabinsk.
Centers for more than two years has visited more than 200 thousand people. In 2012, plans to open information centers in Saratov, Kursk, Kostroma, Tver and Irkutsk. It is also planned opening of the first information center abroad — in Hanoi (Vietnam).
Each data center — a modern multimedia theater, combining panoramic 3D-projection, computer graphics and animation, stereo sound, interactive consoles and personal monitors. Thanks to the technology used, the effect of "immersion" into the virtual reality viewer. Basic Product Information Center — a 45-minute media session in the genre of virtual play "World of Nuclear Energy." The program is universal and the session is designed for an unprepared audience — students grades 2-11 (although the demonstrated interest of the program and an adult audience).
The centers are open 6 days a week. Hours of operation: Monday-Friday, 9:00-19:00 (for groups up to 36 people by appointment) Saturday 11:00-16:00 (group and individual visits without an appointment.) All sessions and events are free to the public.
