The monument "Children of War" is an initiative of the International Association of NGOs blockade hero-city of Leningrad and is located close to Piskaryovsky Memorial Cemetery, at the intersection of Prospect Avenue Unconquered and Menshikov. The author of the project — the sculptor and architect Vladimir Shplet. Funds for the design, manufacture and installation of a monument listed the chairman of the Azerbaijan National-Cultural Autonomy of St. Petersburg Vagif Mamishev.
Georgy Poltavchenko congratulated the veterans of this event, the blockade, all of St. Petersburg. "It is important that the monument appeared in our city.
