In St. Petersburg, OptoGaN launched the first stage of production of a new generation of light-emitting diodes

October 15th the company "OptoGaN" launched production of the LED module Optogan X10, developed in conjunction with the Innovation center "Skolkovo". This solution can significantly reduce the cost of energy-efficient light sources based on LEDs and makes them accessible to a wide range of customers. Patented Optogan X10 has no analogues in the world market.

Invest in the development of new types of LEDs are investing $ 10 million distributed almost equally between the Company and the Fund "Skolkovo". This amount includes both product development, production of which has already begun in the enterprise, and the development of the next generation, the launch of which is scheduled for production in September-October 2013.

To date, orders will issue 6 million LED modules in the coming months is expected to increase production to 40 thousand units per month in the future — up to 200 thousand units. While most of the orders come from European companies, but Russian producers of industrial lighting is also interested in a new product. The company expects to recoup the cost of opening production during the year, the cost of development — in the next three years.

Factory "OptoGaN" was opened in St. Petersburg in November 2010. Its main shareholders are "RUSNANO", JSC "Republican Investment Company" and the "Onexim" Mikhail Prokhorov. "OptoGaN" develops and manufactures high-brightness light-emitting diodes based on heterostructures, as well as lighting equipment based on them.
