Sukhum, November 18 — RIA Novosti. The first building of the Abkhazian hospital capitally renovated with funding from Russia as part of a plan to promote socio-economic development of Abkhazia, opened in Sukhumi.
The event is timed to the passage on November 17-18 in the capital of the Third Russian-Abkhaz business forum "Abkhazia — 2011: the formation of the strategy of economic development of the country through cooperation with Russian regions."
The opening ceremony was attended by: the Abkhaz side — President of Abkhazia Alexander Ankvab, Vice President Michael Logua, ACNPPLL Parliament Nugzar Ashuba, Prime Minister Leonid Lakerbaia with Russia — Head of the Presidential Directorate for Interregional and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries Sergei Vinokurov, Minister of Regional Development Viktor Basargin, deputy governor of the Krasnodar region, Oleg Katchalov and Russian Ambassador to Abkhazia Semyon Grigoriev.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the body, the Health Minister of Abkhazia Zurab Marchand thanked the governments of Abkhazia and Russia for what was allocated for major repairs and hospital equipment. Prime Minister Lakerbaia thanked all those who built and equipped the building of the hospital, and congratulated all the citizens of Abkhazia since the advent of the country’s medical establishment of such a good standard, and expressed the hope that the majority of people no longer need to travel outside the country for treatment.
Head of the Regional Development Ministry Basargin recalled that a year ago, visited the hospital with Ankvab, who made a commitment to build a modern diagnostic and treatment center, and kept his word.
