In Yekaterinburg, launched a free WiFi

Head of the Administration of Yekaterinburg, Alexander Jacob to Thursday, May 31, officially launched another innovative project of the city government — free wireless Internet access in the Historical Square.

According to the project area coverage is limited to the streets of Lenin and Malyshev, Vojvodina, Gorky, and the network will operate across the Historical Square without having to switch when the user move through its territory.

The access points meet the standards of 802.11n, 802.11g and 802.11b standards, and are at a distance within 100 meters of the coverage area.

Power Points are not greater than 100 milliwatts, and the temperature ranges from minus 30 to plus 50 degrees Celsius. Thus, even in February frosts citizens can receive a steady internet signal.

It can simultaneously connect to the network at least 100 people, each of whom will be guaranteed channel 256 kilobits per second.

To connect to the free Wi-Fi in Yekaterinburg on the device to find the network with the name «ekadm» and connect to it. Alexander Jacob said that the historic square is traditionally a place of cultural recreation for residents and visitors alike. Territory Historical Square is considered as a potential site for the creation Fan Zone World Cup 2018.

It is planned to open several more such services in the territory of Ekaterinburg.
