Izhora plants shipped reactor vessel for the Leningrad NPP-2

Izhora plants, part of OMZ Group, shipped the first VVER-1200 in the Leningrad NPP-2.

The contract for the manufacture and supply of power equipment for NPP-2, which is being built to replace the existing capacity of the Leningrad nuclear power plant was signed in 2008. The contract Izhora plants will put the station under construction circuit equipment for two units: the housing reactor internals, the upper blocks, pressure compensators.Leningrad NPP-2 is based on the NPP-2006 project, which is an evolutionary refinement is well-known in Russia and waste power plant with pressurized water nuclear reactors. The service life of power units built by the AES-2006 is increased to 60 years. This is the second VVER-1200, made Izhorskiye plants.

The reactor vessel for the Leningrad NPP-2 will be shipped to the customer by water, which is caused by increased compared to the million-plus reactors (VVER-1000) weight and dimensional characteristics of the VVER-1200. Earlier, reactor vessels and other nuclear equipment sent to the customer by rail. In 2010, for the shipment of oversized products Izhorskiye plant was built cargo dock on the Neva river in pos.Ust-Slav.
